Apple announced the iPhone 14 series of phones yesterday. The new iPhone 14 series offers four models, but unlike the iPad Pro and iPad Air, which have started to switch to the more popular USB-C(Type-C) interface, the iPhone 14 series phones continue to use the Lightning interface that has been in use for a full decade. It is worth noting that sources from the supply chain previously said that Apple may use the USB-C interface on some models of the iPhone 15 in 2023.
The iPhone 14 starts at $799 and the iPhone 14 plus starts at $899. The product was pre ordered and sold on September 9, and shipped on September 16. The iPhone 14 plus was sold on October 7.
When the iPad Pro switched from Lightning to USB-C, everyone seemed to think that USB-C was the future. Since then, people have been imagining that the iPhone will one day use the USB-C interface, so that both Android phones and iPhones will be able to charge and transfer data with the same cable.
But till now, the iPhone still has the unbreakable Lightning interface, not USB-C.
Previously, the Lightning interface used by iPhone had a transfer speed of USB 2.0 and was quite slow to transfer files. By for iPhone 14, Apple upgraded the interface on it, but instead of using the USB-C interface, the Lightning interface was brought up to USB 3.0 levels of transfer rates.

Not long ago, the European Union announced a proposal that seeks to make all electronic devices use a uniform USB-C interface, uniform fast charging technology, to take practical action to promote environmental protection. In addition to Apple's own actions, the EU's new regulations may be the only hope for the USB-C interface iPhone.
Apple does not agree, however, that the proposal will stifle innovation. This makes sense, if all electronic products are using a unified interface and charging protocol, manufacturers will be tied to the specifications, perhaps the future of ultra-fast flash technology, ultra-fast transfer protocol, it will not be developed so fast.
Of course, we have always believed that a universal interface is the real future. Embracing a unified interface does not conflict with the quest to develop advanced transmission and charging technologies. iPhone will use the USB-C interface or not, depending on this game between manufacturers, the industry chain and industry regulators.
On the other hand: The ultimate universal interface is without any interface.
If the iPhone removes the wired interface to a completely wireless design, then it is not subject to the restrictions of the uniform interface Act, which is not a bad innovation.
